As we approach the new school year, we have been working on trying to figure out the best course of action for our athletic teams this fall. Our goal is to continue to develop our athletes and athletic teams, but only if our players can remain safe. In order to do that, we would really appreciate your input on your students’ interest in playing a particular fall sport. The sports we participate in during the fall are Co-Ed Cross Country, Boys Soccer, and Girls Volleyball. Just a reminder, we will be releasing our plan along with a video and accompanying parent registration document. We will also be releasing a full Q and A video early next week as well as a video focused specifically on K-2 early next week around what virtual and hybrid would look like for primary students. We know a primary concern during these scenarios is what does it look like for a primary student to learn to read in a virtual and hybrid scenario. That video will address that aspect.

Parents and caregivers, we know back to school sales are in full swing and some of you may like to get a jump on purchasing supplies. With there still being so many unknowns about next year we do not yet have a complete list of school supplies. We don't want to ask you to buy something, and then it not be necessary should the schooling situation change. Here are the things we know we will need at each grade band, regardless of what school looks like next year. You are welcome to purchase these now or wait until a full list is released in early August.
Everyone: Highlighter, glue stick, scissors, markers, headphones, expo markers, pencils and pencil sharpener, Buy the sharpener that works best for your children - electric or manual
K-2: crayons, K-1 needs 3 primary composition books, 2nd grade needs three wide ruled composition books
3-8: post it notes, colored pencils, lined paper, one pack of pens that are not black, index cards, two composition books
Just a quick COVID update. We are working hard this week to finalize our draft reopening plans including start date and potential scenarios depending on spread rate. We will be releasing those plans this Friday via our normal communication channels. We will also be filming and releasing a Q and A video next week to address the many questions we have already gotten and will get. I can't thank you enough for your trust and patience through this difficult summer planning process.
Reopening planning has been challenging and crazy enough but the last 24 hours may have been the craziest. Mr. Baker (Principal) and Mr. W (Executive Director) sat down today to have a "Covid Conversation" to talk through the struggle that is reopening planning and provide a window into the things they are wrestling with. We always seek to be transparent and honest so this video is a look into conversations we are having all day, every day. We also plan to do a video in Spanish next week providing more info and answering question.

I know a lot of questions resulted from today's press conference from our Governor. We are currently working to figure out what has or hasn't changed from today's statement. We have worked hard to create a solid plan for reopening and still plan to release those in the next week or two. Mr. Baker and I will be releasing a video by the end of the week answering some of your questions and expanding on our upcoming plans.
