We'd like to share a message we just received from Lifetouch, our yearbook provider: Dear Families, Yearbooks are a tradition for schools throughout the US and Canada. At Lifetouch, we are humbled to be a part of providing that tradition. We know how important yearbooks are - especially in times like these. We want to take a moment to acknowledge this year’s delayed yearbook delivery is not what you, as our customers expect, nor deserve, from Lifetouch. We want you to be aware that our primary yearbook production facilities are located in some of the states that are being hardest hit by the pandemic. We have prioritized the safety of our employees; and we are following all state and local health guidelines to create a safe working environment. Social distancing requirements mean that there are fewer people available to work at any given time. These changes have impacted our production schedule in meaningful ways. We realize this has created a lot of frustration since we are currently unable to provide an estimated delivery time frame for your school’s yearbook. Please know our teams are doing everything possible to get your yearbook to you. Shipping is monitored daily. As soon as your yearbook ships, your school will receive tracking information so they can arrange to distribute the yearbooks to the students and families in a manner that is best suited for everyone’s safety. As we navigate COVID-19, our intent is to provide you with a yearbook that your student will treasure for a lifetime. ¿Qué es P-EBT (tarjeta de comida pandémica)? P-EBT es un beneficio único para ayudar a complementar los costos de alimentos familiares como resultado de la pandemia de COVID-19 y el cierre prolongado de escuelas. Para los hogares que no participan en SNAP cuyos hijos estaban inscritos en un programa de comidas gratuitas o de precio reducido (FRP) o asistían a una escuela de CEP a partir del 13 de marzo de 2020, se enviará una tarjeta P-EBT a la dirección que figura en el sistema de la escuela entre el 20 y el 24 de julio. What is Pandemic EBT (P-EBT)? P-EBT is a one-time benefit to help supplement family food costs resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and prolonged school closures. For households not participating in SNAP whose child(ren) were enrolled in a free or reduced-price (FRP) meals program or attending a CEP school as of March 13, 2020, a P-EBT card will be mailed to the address on file with your child’s school district between July 20th and July 24th. No further action is required on your part to receive your P-EBT benefit. Who is eligible for P-EBT? Children in Head Start and 4K-12 students enrolled in a free or reduced-price school meals program under the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) or are enrolled in a school that has opted to participate in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) are eligible to receive P-EBT. Lead Academy IS NOT a CEP school. Please allow the state to fully issue all P-EBT benefits by August 15th, before inquiring about your benefit status. If you have not received your benefit by August 15th, please email PEBTBenefits@dss.sc.gov.

If we have to wear masks, we might as well look good and show some school spirit while doing it. We will have a limited amount of these Lead Academy masks for sale during Chromebook pickup in a couple of weeks. More info to come.

La escuela está a la vuelta de la esquina. Solo queríamos que todos supieran que enviaremos una comunicación detallada al final de la semana que cubrirá: cómo será el primer día de clases (comenzaremos todo virtual o híbrido), cuándo recoger los Chromebooks y otras necesidades, cuándo llenar el papeleo, conocer al maestro y horarios, semana LEAP, reglas de máscaras, etc. Queremos condensar toda esta información en una comunicación si es posible. School is right around the corner. We just wanted to let everyone know we will send out a detailed communication by the end of the week covering: What the first day of school will look like (will we start all virtual or hybrid), when to pick up chromebooks and other necessities, when to fill out paperwork, meet the teacher and schedules, LEAP week, mask policies, etc. We want to condense all of this info into one communication if possible so thank you for your patience. At this time, they are offering small group instruction, 3 days per week, for up tot two hours per day to help students and parents with extra help around virtual learning.
