It's Tuesday! That means another Table Talk. This week we continue discussing another founding principle at Lead - Work Hard. This principle calls on us to put in the work in order to see the results we hope for. Working hard doesn’t mean doing things the most difficult way. It does mean that, as you confront challenges, you continue to push toward the goal. Dear parents, A few reminders as we move into next week. • Morning arrival- We will introduce 4th and 5th grade students into the building. Our morning drop off routine will require us to be more efficient. • If possible, please have your students sit on the passenger side of the back seat to make drop off and pick up easier and safer. • If you need to walk your child in, please park in the parking lot to do so. Please do not park in the drop-off line. • You must have a pick up tag in afternoon. If you do not, you will have to park, go to the front office, and present your ID to obtain your child. Parents of 4th and 5th students will receive their tag after their student’s first day. Estimados padres/guardianes, Algunos recordatorios a medida que avanzamos hacia la próxima semana. • Llegada por la mañana- Estaremos agregando a los estudiantes de 4to y 5to tercer grado en el edificio. We have modified our reopening guidelines and timeline to be able to begin bringing more grades onto campus in hybrid mode. 4th and 5th grade will join us next week (9/28) and 6th-8th grade will join us 10/5. Each year, our district spends time with our elected officials advocating for increased funding and opportunities for charter schools like ours. They would love to hear from you around why you chose a charter school and why you feel they are important. If you have time and want to help us as we continue to advocate for charters, complete the linked survey. We are pleased to begin offering weekly to go meal pickups for virtual and hybrid students beginning 10/5. Students who sign up will receive either a 3 day or 5 day meal pack including both breakfast and lunch depending on how many days of in person attendance they are signed up for. Great News! We have received a USDA waiver to be able to provide free breakfast and lunch to all students regardless of lunch status until 12/31/20. This means everyone can eat free any time they want until then, no lunch money required. This goes into effect immediately. Also, we shared a to go meal survey for virtual or at home students a while back and only received a couple of responses so we are re-sharing that now. If we have enough interest, we will communicate details on a meal pickup plan in a week or two. Desafortunadamente, el condado de Greenville fue etiquetado con casos de COVID alto hoy por dos semanas consecutiva. Unfortunately, Greenville County was labeled with a COVID spread rate of high today for the second week in a row. Due to this, we are putting our plans to bring 4-8 grades on campus next week on pause. K/1 will continue to attend on Plan 4 and 2/3 will continue to attend on Plan 2 next week just like they did this week. Grades 4-8 will remain 100% virtual until further notice when spread rates decline. We will communicate the next steps of our plan next Monday after those ratings come out. This decision is in accordance with our approved reopening plan and in the best interest of the health and safety of our students and staff. We are excited to welcome 2nd and 3rd grade in-person students the week of 9/14. On Monday and Thursday, parents are welcome to park and walk their students into the front lobby and take a first day of school picture in front of the Lead Falcon Mural. Everyone must be temperature checked and wear a mask while maintaining social distance from other families. We will not be allowing any parents to go all the way to the classroom to keep germs away. Also, please make sure you bring a full water bottle and a mask to wear at times during the day when it is necessary. You may begin arriving at 7:10 and classes will begin at 7:50. We will dismiss at 2:15 each day.

It is so amazing to have smiling kids back in the building to add some life and noise back to our days. Things do not look exactly “normal” but everyone is making the best of it.
