We want to thank students, staff, families and caregivers who will need to exercise a great deal of flexibility. We regret the hardships this will cause for some of our families. This is uncharted territory that we all are navigating together and we understand this action causes disruption. Great care and research went into this decision; however, we are making this decision not because we think we will stop a pandemic. We are simply trying to do our part in what we believe is the right step to take for the health and safety of our families, employees, and the community at large, especially to protect our students and employees who are at greater risk. We will continue monitoring the situation weekly and proceed on a week-by-week basis.

Dear Lead Families,
I want to personally thank you for your support during these challenging times. Your patience and understanding has really been a breath of fresh air coming in as the new principal. I’ve never seen this kind of support in my time as an administrator and Lead Academy is truly something special. I want you to know that Lead Academy values the safety of our faculty, staff, students, and families. We believe that most students learn best in the building and we place high value on teaching your children in creating safe in-person instruction for all grades.
The latest Greenville County spread rate numbers are a cause for concern in accordance with our Lead Academy reopening plan. The numbers shared in the last report are categorized as high with significant increase. This week, Lead will remain on the current attendance plan for all grades. Should the county level data provided by DHEC remain at the current level or increase, we will begin phasing grades 5-8 to virtual instruction starting 11/2. A decision will be announced the morning of 10/30. If the county level data provided by DHEC remains at current levels or increases for a second week (data released on 11/5), we will continue phasing out remaining grades until levels fall significantly. Updates will be made weekly following the release of county level data provided by DHEC on Thursdays. You can find our reopening plan here https://core-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/documents/asset/uploaded_file/927020/9-22_Modified_Reopening_Plan_and_Timeline___1_.pdf
For this week, we have enhanced our safety protocols to add an extra layer of precaution. We hope the county spread rate will decrease significantly and allow us to keep everyone in the building. As always, if questions arise, feel free to contact me at cubaker@myleadacademy.com
Once again, thank you for your continued support.
